Explore the fee structure for interior design projects, which is divided into two components. Whether you're considering a one-room update or a custom joinery project, understanding the fee structure can help make decisions more grounded. At Shaping Interiors, the fee structure is organized into two phases:

Phase 1 – Concept Phase

The design process begins by exploring ideas and possibilities, which are then developed into clear design concepts and functional layout plans tailored to the space. To establish a cohesive and thoughtful direction, layout options are reviewed, and curated samples of finishes, fabrics, materials, and colours are considered, and developed into refined final selections.

Fees for this stage are confirmed following the initial consultation and are based on the scope outlined in the design brief. The Concept Phase is quoted as a fixed fee, providing clarity and confidence from the outset.

Phase 2 – The Design Build

Once the concept is approved, the project progresses into a more detailed phase. This stage involves refining layouts, confirming materials, coordinating with trades, and addressing any on-site considerations as the design is brought to life.

Due to the varied nature of this phase, services are charged at an hourly rate. Some projects may require minimal input, while others—particularly those involving custom details or ongoing site involvement—may need more in-depth support. Time is tracked transparently, with regular updates provided to maintain clarity throughout the process.

A Final Note

Understanding how design is priced is just one piece of that puzzle. When handled with transparency and care, it can make the entire design process feel more considered and tailored experience.
